Historic Preservation Specialist

Job responsibilities:

Prepare Historic Tax Credit Certification Applications. Research and document resources and historic context, evaluate historic significance, review architectural and systems drawings and specifications, prepare narrative descriptions, oversee onsite work, and document completed projects.

Prepare cultural and historic documentation in accordance with Section 106 consultation in support of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) for private and government clients. Apply advanced consulting skills, extensive technical expertise, and knowledge of preservation requirements to devise creative solutions that achieve our clients’ goals while meeting public responsibilities. Understand and apply preservation-related laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and technologies affecting federal agency and local government activities including Section 106 public consultation meetings, communication with clients and agencies, and documentation of all stages of consultation and review.

Prepare Determinations of Eligibility, state Historic Landmark applications, and National Register Nominations

Basic Qualifications:

2-4+ years of experience in the cultural or historic resources profession, including architectural history or cultural resources management planning and programming

Experience with cultural and historic consultations in support of NHPA Section 106 or Section 4(f), including drafting Section 106 documentation, correspondence, MOAs, and closeout reports

Experience with federal, state, and local historic preservation agencies and boards.

Master’s degree in Historic Preservation, Architecture, Environmental Science, Archaeology or related field

Ability to think critically

Ability to collaborate with a team to execute project activities under strict timelines or deadlines

Ability to multi-task

Ability to write, edit, and format complex documents using Microsoft Word

Demonstrate experience with Adobe Creative Suite specifically InDesign

Demonstrate experience with GIS systems and other databases

Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills

Compensation:

$65,000 – $100,000 based on experience
